EARLY TREATMENTS

The American Association of Orthodontics Advocates Early Orthodontic Assessment

It is recommended by the American Association of Orthodontics that all children undergo an orthodontic check-up no later than the age of 7. This timing is crucial as it corresponds to the period when the upper and lower jaws are in the early stages of growth. This assessment serves to evaluate the proper development of these jaws and identify any indications of improper size or abnormal growth patterns. Such conditions may potentially impede the alignment of teeth within the dental arches and adversely affect a child’s bite.

The factors contributing to these irregularities can vary, stemming from genetic factors or oral habits such as thumb-sucking, tongue thrusting, speech difficulties, or nail-biting.
